This 11-hour coach tour from Florence links San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, the Chianti road and Siena, past medieval towers, walled hamlets and vineyards. In San Gimignano, the UNESCO historic center is open to explore at your own pace. Monteriggioni has a perfectly preserved fortress to step inside. The Chiantigiana road leads to a cozy winery, where a guided tasting of 3 Chianti wines comes with a zero-mile, 3-course lunch that ends with cantucci and vin santo. Siena gets free time for Gothic lanes, artisan shops and lively enotecas, plus quick stops at the striped Duomo and the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, home of the Palio. Historic Centre of San Gimignano
San Gimignano is a preserved walled hilltown with tall medieval towers and fresco-filled churches. The UNESCO-listed historic center is open to stroll at your own pace, with artisan shops, quiet lanes and panoramic viewpoints over the Val d'Elsa. There is time for gelato or souvenirs.
Monteriggioni
Monteriggioni is a fortress village ringed by intact 13th-century walls. The visit covers the tiny piazza and the gates, and the ramparts make good photo spots. The stop is quick. (*) From November to March, the itinerary does not include the stop at Monteriggioni, and the return to Florence is approx 30 minutes earlier.
Strada Statale 222 Chiantigiana
The Chiantigiana is one of Tuscany's most scenic roads, running past vineyards, olive groves and stone farmhouses. It ends at a cozy winery, with a guided tasting of three Chianti wines and a zero-mile, three-course lunch. Cantucci and vin santo come last.
Siena
Siena gets generous free time: narrow lanes, noble palaces and lively enotecas. Use it for artisan boutiques, local specialties and photos of the terracotta-colored city.
Duomo di Siena
A short stop outside and a brief look inside Siena's striped-marble cathedral, with its ornate facade, sculptures and masterworks.

Piazza del Campo is the square of the Palio horse race. There is time for a seat at a cafe, the shell-shaped slope, and a view of the Torre del Mangia and the Palazzo Pubblico.
