Private Chianti Afternoon Wine Tour along the Via Chiantigiana with Hotel Pickup
This private half-day tour follows the Via Chiantigiana wine route through the Chianti hills, past cypress rows, vineyards, sunflowers and medieval villages. It is a rural stretch of Tuscany, far from the city. The main tasting pours 6 or 7 wines from typical Tuscan farmhouses: Chianti Classico, a Super Tuscan and Vernaccia di San Gimignano, an ancient Italian DOCG white. Along the way comes the legend of the Black Rooster, the symbol of Chianti.

Strada Statale 222 Chiantigiana
The driver collects the private group at the hotel or apartment and follows the Via Chiantigiana, one of the Tuscan wine roads, with photo stops among the vineyards. The first winery comes next along the Chianti wine route.
San Donato in Poggio
The first winery is one of three local cellars: Guidi Cellar, Rocca delle Macie or Poggio ai Laghi Winery, one of which is chosen for the visit. They are historic cellars in the rural part of Chianti Classico. A presentation covers their character and the wine and oil production of Chianti, followed by a tasting of 6 or 7 Chianti wines.
Castellina In Chianti
The route along the wine road continues to a second winery with its own history and tradition. Another 6 glasses are poured, including Chianti, Vernaccia (considered the finest Italian DOCG white) and several Super Tuscans. Both visits include a cellar tour and technical explanations from the winemakers, to help tell the Chianti wines apart.
Colle di Val d'Elsa
At a second winery the tasting covers Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, a Super Tuscan and Vermentino, with a small aperitivo of cured meats and cheeses. An oenologist/sommelier leads it.
