This afternoon trip covers two wineries in the Chianti Classico region, with a small group in an 8-seat minivan. The first has cellars inside a historic 13th-century castle. The second is a local family-run farm. The tastings include several types of wine, among them Chianti Classico. At the family farm the table also has handmade local products, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. A tour leader and crew run the day.

  1. Piazza della Calza, 1, Firenze

    Meet in Piazza della Calza, in front of Porta Romana, at the blue P (parking) sign.

  2. Florence

    A relaxing half-day tour of the Chianti Classico wine region starts in Florence, in an 8-seat minivan.

  3. Strada in Chianti

    Olive groves, cypresses along winding roads and grapes on the vines lead into the Chianti area, while the tour leader shares stories and legends set in medieval castles. Within an hour the group is holding a glass of wine and a bruschetta with rolling hills ahead. The winemakers lead the way through their old cellars and explain winemaking. Three wines are tasted before the minivan continues to a second winery.

  4. Strada Statale 222 Chiantigiana

    The second stop is a local family-run farm, proof that small producers make excellent wine too. The process of picking, making and bottling is explained. Over the day, 6 to 8 types of wine, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oils are tasted with snacks.

  5. Greve in Chianti

    Return to Florence at about 6:30pm.
