Fonseca Winery Tour in Vila Nova de Gaia with Fado Show and Terrace Dinner at WOW

This four-hour evening combines a winery visit, a wine tasting with live fado and a sit-down dinner. Fonseca is one of the main sights of Vila Nova de Gaia, on the Douro opposite Porto. The guided visit begins with the winery's history, which goes back to the vineyards of Quinta do Panascal in the Douro Valley, one of the leading wine areas of northern Portugal. The group then walks through the different sections of the winery to see how Port is made, hears about the ageing methods and learns which sustainable practices are used today. The tasting covers two Fonseca wines, Bin 27 and Siroco, looked at for colour, aroma and flavour. Younger guests get grape juice from the Douro Valley. A fado performance of voice and guitar accompanies the tasting. Dinner follows on the terrace of the WOW restaurant (World of Wine), next to the winery. There are three courses: a vegetable cream to start, sea bass as the main and crème brûlée for dessert. Wine, mineral water and coffee are included. Children under 5 join free and do not take part in the juice tasting or the dinner.
